POWER FORWARD
1. Dirk Nowitzki (1) – would love to see more stl/blk, but he’s been massive nonetheless
2. Kevin Garnett (3) – just 1.1 turnovers in 31 minutes over the past month
3. Al Jefferson (5) – already a consistent force at the tender age of 24
4. Amar’e Stoudemire (2) – simply put, his numbers are down
5. Rashard Lewis (4)
6. Shawn Marion (13)
7. Pau Gasol (7) – was great as the team’s center late last season and no reason to expect otherwise now
8. Marcus Camby (6) – morale and chemistry will be at all-time lows in the second half
9. Chris Bosh (8) – very good numbers despite team’s poor record and… trade rumors?
10. Tim Duncan (11) – blocks are down (1.8), but his assist-to-turnover is up (1.7:1)
11. Antawn Jamison (15)
12. David West (10) – his numbers are down almost across the board
13. Josh Smith (12)
14. Rudy Gay (14)
15. David Lee (18)
16. Troy Murphy (24) – he’s besting Dunleavy’s level of production from 07-08
17. Paul Millsap (17)
18. Rasheed Wallace (16) – still a special line, but FG% at a disturbing low (.419 on the season)
19. Mehmet Okur (19) – you’ve got to nitpick to find fault with what he’s contributing
20. Lamar Odom (42)
21. Brook Lopez (33) – I should have been more optimistic when I posted this and this
22. LaMarcus Aldridge (21) – great offensive numbers, but you can’t help but want more just about everywhere else
23. Nene Hilario (22) – can’t be overzealous for obvious reasons, but he looks real good
24. Al Horford (23) – took a bit long to come back, but knee injury isn’t expected to linger
25. Carlos Boozer (40) – he should be back in business shortly after the break
26. Emeka Okafor (26) – what you see is what you get
27. Boris Diaw (27) -the counting stats are plentiful, but FT% and turnovers are clear liabilities
28. Kenyon Martin (31) – copy/paste what you see for Nene
29. Charlie Villanueva (48)
30. Al Harrington (25) – very clear pluses (3PTM, PTS) and minuses (FG%, AST:TO)
31. Jeff Green (29)
32. Tyrus Thomas (38)
33. Andrea Bargnani (41)
34. Marvin Williams (37)
35. Kevin Love (52) – getting more and more comfortable; fifth-most offensive rebounds in the league
36. Zach Randolph (30) – hard to get too excited as this team goes through the motions
37. Ron Artest (34)
38. Wilson Chandler (35)
39. Luis Scola (50) – very nice to have on a roster if utilized properly
40. Corey Maggette (32)
41. Jermaine O’Neal (36) – it’s not about where he plays, but rather how often
42. Gerald Wallace (9)
43. Drew Gooden (43) – solid but he’s dealing with injury and the young players are stepping up
44. Spencer Hawes (44) – one of the Kings’ top priorities is dealing Brad Miller’s salary
45. Andrei Kirilenko (20)
46. Michael Beasley (56)
47. Jason Thompson (NR)
48. Tayshaun Prince (39)
49. Ryan Gomes (53)
50. Thaddeus Young (51)
CENTER
1. Al Jefferson (2)
2. Amar’e Stoudemire (1)
3. Pau Gasol (4)
4. Marcus Camby (3)
5. Chris Bosh (5)
6. Tim Duncan (6)
7. Andris Biedrins (8) – game continues to evolve and he’s yet to turn 23
8. David Lee (10)
9. Troy Murphy (18)
10. Paul Millsap (9)
11. Rasheed Wallace (7)
12. Dwight Howard (12) – [insert obligatory h2h vs roto disclaimer here]; losing Nelson isn’t likely to be a positive
13. Mehmet Okur (13)
14. Yao Ming (11) – as usual, his per-game numbers are stellar
15. Brook Lopez (25)
16. LaMarcus Aldridge (14)
17. Nene Hilario (15)
18. Al Horford (16)
19. Carlos Boozer (29)
20. Brad Miller (27) – I get the feeling a trade would energize him, but not bad production as is
21. Zydrunas Ilgauskas (33) – he’s back and should pick up right where he left off
22. Emeka Okafor (20)
23. Boris Diaw (21)
24. Al Harrington (19)
25. Shaquille O’Neal (30) – not even Steve Kerr saw this coming; FT% remains a roto challenge
26. Andrea Bargnani (34)
27. Kevin Love (44)
28. Chris Kaman (23) – we could be discussing a lost season by next update
29. Zach Randolph (24)
30. Luis Scola (42)
31. Samuel Dalembert (39) – some signs of life recently, but it’s tough to get too enthused
32. Jermaine O’Neal (28)
33. Drew Gooden (35)
34. Spencer Hawes (36)
35. Jason Thompson (NR)
36. Greg Oden (43) – go figure: his offense has improved while his boards and blocks have decreased
37. Marc Gasol (32) – not bad, not great; Darko will be back sooner than later
38. Tyson Chandler (37) – as hard to predict the future as it is to explain what’s happened thus far
39. Kendrick Perkins (31) – was hoping for more than incremental improvements in his sixth season
40. Nick Collison (48) – solid play has kept Krstic among the team’s reserves
41. Matt Bonner (45) – his impact is only truly felt in roto leagues
42. Andray Blatche (40) – out a few more weeks but his starting gig will be waiting
43. Udonis Haslem (46)
44. Ronny Turiaf (NR) – doing well in limited minutes, but Nelson doesn’t seem inclined to give him more
45. Marreese Speights (NR) – should see steady playing time in the wake of Brand’s surgery
46. Chris Andersen (49) – Turiaf-like numbers; backing up two starters with extensive injury histories
47. Antonio McDyess (47) – he’ll play more in the second half, but there’s only so much upside
48. Erick Dampier (51)
49. Joakim Noah (NR)
50. Anderson Varejao (38)
2/5 edit: removed Elton Brand

Hey Matt,
Nice site. One of my Yahoo Roto Leagues has a setting of
Max Games Played: No maximum
Does this mean that I can accumulate stats beyond 820 games?
Thanks!
Of course LOL
You should be moving guys into the line up DAILY!!! Play as many guys as you can, well good quality guys, don’t waste your time with small stats. What is the Waiver/Free Agent setting in that league?
Hey there, I’m sitting pretty in my league, and could easily wait on an injured player for playoff purposes. Blatche is out there and very little else in our FA pool. Is he worth dropping Krstic? Krstic is only worth around 7 boards and 2 defensive stats a night, but he is very reliable and his contributions are great. Blatche looks like he could produce more, but I don’t know if he averages out to his usual stats are consistently hits them. Thoughts?
yeah i do think blatche will offer more to fantasy teams than krstic, so i’d make that swap
Troy Murphy and DLee need to be moved up above josh smith and Rudy Gay in PF. and Brook Lopez needs to be moved up in PF and he needs to move up above always hurt Yao and Brand for the C position.
I see Kirilenko is ranked really low. Is this based on the fact that we have no idea if/when he’s going to come back and how fit he will be? I have a void in my roster and I can get either Boozer, Kaman or Kirilenko. Should I go for Boozer? The problem is, my steals/blocks would be lacking.
Duncan, the greatest PF of all time, #10 on your PF list?
He’s averaging 20 pts, 11 reb, 5 ast, 2 blk, 52% FG, 70% FT over the last month. His season averages are basically the same. So am I missing something?
Amare’s 21 pts, 8 reb, 2 ast, 1 stl, 1 blk are better? Amare has FT% on Duncan, but that’s about it.
I’d have to rank them:
1. Dirk
2. Duncan
3. Jefferson
4. KG
5. Rashard Lewis
6. Amare
7. Gasol
8. Marion
9. Rudy Gay
10. Troy Murphy
This list is supposed to ranking player value for the remainder of the season? Maybe I’m missing something, but that’s how I’d rank the top 10.
As for centers.. Not sure what warranted a 7 spot jump for Brand, especially since there’s speculation that he might be shut down because he’s still experiencing pain in his shoulder. And Turiaf and Anderson should be ahead of guys like Perkins, Collison, and Thompson.
But wait Ashley, where is Bosh on your list? :p
Because it’s the rest of this season’s ranks, and those guys will be more valuable than Bosh for the remainder of the season. Bosh sprained his knee last night, don’t know how serious it is but he seems like a candidate to shut it down early in Toronto. As if I wasn’t happy enough when I saw the my offer was accepted the other night, I’m twice as happy now that Bosh has sprained his knee.
#6 might be high for Amare, his numbers continue to fade as the season goes on.
I know it’s early, but Gay has been playing great under the new coach. That’s why I have him #9, I had him all of last year so I know he’s capable of putting up great numbers.
And of course I’d put Lopez #11 if I had gone on with the list =)
#20 overall last month average. 58% FG, 90% FT, 17 pts, 8 reb, 2 blk.. Stud. Hope he can keep it up.
i think you are missing that this is 9-category rankings. to date, amare ranks 22nd in positive contributions in FT% while duncan in 7th from the bottom – that’s a massive difference and enough to make up for it being ‘about it’ in terms of number of categories
And according to Rotoworld, Brand is about to have season-ending surgery. So much for that #15 and #22 ranking…
The owner isn’t going to keep Brand. I don’t know the seriousness of this shoulder surgery, but do you think he’d be a bargain in the 6th round of next years draft in my keeper league?
I only have 1 pick in the first 3 rounds.. And I’ll probably use it on someone like Stuckey, Nash, or Beasley. But maybe Brand would be a good value.
edited to remove brand. and yes at this early stage i’ll call him a bargain next season in what would be the 6th round
The #2 ranked PF can’t shoot 6.6 FTs a game at a clip under 70%.
And come on, how biased are you against Bosh? Here’s Duncan and Bosh’s season numbers side by side…
Duncan: 20.6 pgg, 10.4 rpg, 3.7 apg, 0.5 spg, 1.8 bpg, 0.0 threes, 52% shooting on 15.5 shots, 69% FTs on 6.6 shots.
Bosh: 22.8 ppg, 9.5 rpg, 2.4 apg, 0.8 spg, 0.9 bpg, 0.2 threes, 49.6% shooting on 16 shots, 80.8% FTs on 8.5 shots.
Can you really tell me you think one is the 2nd best PF, and one is worse than Brook Lopez? They should be like 5th and 6th, with Bosh’s FT% giving him the nod over Duncan.
any thoughts on speights’ value with elton done for the year?
he should at least be a pretty steady 20 minutes moving forward, so he gets a bit more interesting. to be honest, i think he brings more to the table than willie green, but they’ll probably go small moving forward anyway. louis williams gets a bit more interesting, as well
or ty lue/anthony johnson situation in orlando?
deep leaguers should think about johnson – i don’t see lue doing anything but backing him up, but we could also be headed for a platoon-like situation. what is really of interest to me is if bogans suddenly gets starts over sessions
yeah, i’m in a real deep league and i have/had both jameer and elton, so i’ve had to grab johnson already and grabbed speights this morning. still holding jameer just in case, but didn’t know if lue was going to usurp the minutes in orlando. thanks.
Ok, but remember.. These are “REST OF SEASON RANKS” so it would be better to judge the two players based on last month averages. Better yet, why don’t you look at Bosh’s averages over the last 2 weeks.
Bosh hurt his knee. He hates Toronto. Only the Wizards are worse than the Raptors. He’s unmotivated.
So who do you think is more reliable for the rest of the season.. Duncan or Bosh?
I’m not anti-Bosh. He’s a good player. I thought he was a lot greater before I traded for him, then I started to realize he’s basically Zach Randolph, but atleast Randolph averaged 22/11.
It’s so frustrating to me how you drool over 22 pts, 9 rebounds. Big deal. If you think that’s amazing, then fine. You probably think Kobe’s 61 pts are better than Lebron’s 52, 10 reb, 11 ast game.
Points are the sexiest stat I guess, but I could care less about points. I’ll never have guys like Redd, Martin, Ben/Eric Gordon on my roster. The money stats are assists/steals/blocks, and I’ll always prefer a guy who has a complete game even if he averages 5 less ppg than someone else who only scores and rebounds.
That’s fair, but you have to throw FG% and FT% in there, too. And it’s not like points and rebounds don’t count, either.
I just think you have a little too much value placed on blocks. Turiaf and Anderson, for example, are pretty much the definition of a 1 category player. However, you’d prefer their stats over the decent overall line of Collison or the high ceiling of Thompson. The same applies for Lopez and Duncan…you seem willing to give up some overall value for the solid all-around numbers, anchored by their blocks. Just food for thought.
Thompson and Collison are solid players. You underestimate the value of blocks. There are 9 players with 25+ blocks over the last month. Compared to over 30 players with 25+ 3ptm over the last month. Anderson and Turiaf are two of the players who have 25+ blocks over the last month and they’re available in a lot of leagues.
Last month avg
Thompson (ranked 100) 56% 84% 13.5 ppg, 7.4 rpg, 0.4 blk
Collison (ranked 93) 66% 70% 10.5 ppg, 8.5 rpg, 0.5 blk
Anderson (ranked 88) 69% 68% 7.7 ppg, 5.9 rpg, 2.2 blk
Turiaf (ranked 46) 51% 83% 6.6 ppg, 5.2 rpg, 2.9 apg, 2.3 blk
Once again, Thompson and Collison are decent. But I don’t think you understand that the extra 2 blocks a game that Turiaf and Anderson get are more valuable than the extra 4 points Thompson and Collison get.
Earlier in the year I traded away pretty much all of my overall depth to acquire great keepers, and it left me with 5 great keepers and a bunch of scrubs. My team was 16-15-1. Then my boyfriend told me that instead of having a bunch of mediocre players who contribute to random categories, focus on getting guys who specialize in 3′s, steals, and blocks.
So I add Turiaf, Tyrus Thomas, Anderson for blocks. And trade Bosh for Lopez. I dropped Perkins for Bargnani a month ago for the 3′s and huge increase in FT%, Cook, Anthony Parker, Chalmers, and Bonner.
Obviously it helps when you’re led by Lebron, Paul, and Durant. But everyone underestimates my role players and everyone is like, Westbrook is your 5th keeper?? But ever since I took this strategy I’ve been 51-27, I’ve won 5 weeks in a row and am up 7-0-1 on the guy I traded Bosh to.
So I’m sorry for thinking Anderson and Turiaf are better than Thompson and Collison, you may not agree.. But my team has been steam-rolling everyone lately and they’re a big reason why. When you have 3′s, steals, FT%, and blocks on lockdown every week, you’re basically starting off with a 4-0 lead. My opponent can fight to try to win FG%, points, rebounds, and assists but I usually take 2 of those.
you would probably be upset you know that anderson and turiaf are both available in my league but so is thompson. we only play a 6 cat league which makes things a bit different. ive been forced to throw out blocks with virtually no good blockers on my team. Big Z, Okur, and Gooden just dont get that job done. I do have kenyon martin who gets a bunch. I feel like if i wanted to make a blocks push i would be giving up too many rebounds to still remain decent there.
I’m not saying Turiaf and Anderson are “must own” players… But blocks and steals are so hard to come by, that if you can get a couple guys who average 2+ blocks a game you basically have blocks wrapped up every week.
My team had 25 blocks after Wednesday.. Turiaf – 8, Tyrus – 6, Anderson – 5, Lebron – 4.
Until about 5 weeks ago I had a mediocre blocking team. I was 3-5-1 in blocks. But just from adding those 3 guys I’m now 8-5-1 in blocks.
And they do more than just block.. Anderson is becoming more involved in the offense. He’s averaging 10 pts, 6 reb, 3 blk over his last 3 games. Turiaf is a good passer for a big man, and has a great FT%. He does this averaging under 19 minutes a game. Imagine if he got 25 mins or if Nelson started him a little more often.
I think you should drop Gooden for Turiaf.. But if you’ve held him this long I guess you might as well wait until he finally comes back.
Any thoughts on if if the wizards might end caron’s season early? i have jamison too and im nervous they will pull one of them thus causing a pretty big issue on my team.
hey Matt,
I am a bit short in blocks and figured i could trade Pietrus for Dalambert… however, injuries in both teams got me puzzled… maybe both players will perform better or maybe just the player i would be giving up (Pietrus) would perform better…
How will Nelsons and Brand’s injuries impact Pietrus’s and Dalamberts numbers?
Thanks for help
Sorry Buser but Nene that low just doesn’t fly. Yeah, he has an injury prone past, let’s not forget last year it was a DISEASE not an injury that kept him out.
He’s played in 48 games.
He’s shot 61% on 9 attempts/game.
He averages 1.3 stls and 1.4 blks / games.
He’s currently 18 in Yahoo! rankings overall (19th avg. rank) and has been in the top 25 practically all year.BBM has him at 16 overall.
He’s currently ranked 5th and 7th at Center by yahoo and BBM respectively.
I know everyone is wary of this guy, but please bump him up a bit next update. Players can turn it around and this guy is playing some stellar bball this year.
I was thinking the same thing. Nene has propelled himself from a borderline starter in standard leagues to a sure fire keeper. And I also thought “hey, How is a disease the same as an injury?!”
nene FTW
Yeah Millsap is a little high, I’d move him out of the top 15. He’s fading fast, probably because of his bad knee. Only averaging 13.7 pts, 8.7 rebounds over the last month. And Boozer will be back eventually (supposedly). Nene should definitely be ahead of him, his averages are better than Millsaps in every category lately, other than assists.
But Nene has only averaged 34 games a season over the last 4 years before this season, with the highest being 64 games in ’06-’07 so I can understand why he isn’t getting more respect yet.
Hey Matt,
Should I accept a proposed trade of Camby and Millsap for my Garnett and Posey? Well, Posey is of no use to me so I would like to dispose him out of my team. I’m hesitant because Boozer is nearing return while for Camby I don’t know.. depends if Kaman will return…
Thanks
