    Great points Matt!

Agree with a lot of what you said. Also think Butler, Bargnani and Rose are overrated and that the Memphis situation is a mess. I figure Joe J takes a slight hit with Crawford too. I also like Gil in the late 2nd/early 3rd. I don’t believe he’ll jack up less 3s obviously :) Hibachi will come back strong.

I don’t trust KG this year. Cs are gonna be careful with him and preserve him for their expected deep playoff run. They’re deep anyway. I think Rondo might be the guy to own there – he’s got no competition.

Also like Rashard and I’m hoping he falls all the way to the late 4th (but doubt it).

Your thoughts on Brand? I know a lot are high on Brook Lopez and I’m hoping people “forget” about EB :) My gut tells me he’ll come back strong this year – and justify his contract. Think he can stay healthy?

  2. mr. gm says:

Well done. I think he butchered many pronunciations like Byuser, Leon Pau, Devon George, Tony Battay. Other than the aforementioned, pretty good 1 hr of my time :)

  3. introspect says:

I’m not sure why you guys believe that Bargnani is over-rated.

A quick tidbit for anyone who isn’t sold on Bargnani going into this year.
*December 31st (last season) is when he officially became the starting C for the Raptors. After given this role he topped 20 or more points 23 times and set an NBA record for a starting center by making multiple 3-pointers in 10 consecutive games!

*After given starter role (minutes) he was the 3rd highest scoring C in the NBA after Dwight Howard and Pau Gasol.

*From start of last season until December 31st (before he became a starter) he averaged 11 pts, 4 reb. From the moment he became a starter (Dec 31st) until the end of season, he averaged 19 pts, 6 reb, 45% FG 43% 3PT.

*Although Italy did no qualify Bargnani did well playing for them and is not in training camp toughening up and practicing with the likes of Reggie Evans! So expect those rebounds to go up this year.

My predictions this year are LaMurcas Aldridge type numbers 17/7 but with more blocks and a 3PT game that offers 1.5 threes at 40%. Although he does not steal the ball well at all he is very efficient and I think will go from averaging 31 minutes (last year) to 33 minutes (this year), maybe even more! He does not hurt you in any area with great FT% and 3P% from a C. Also has great positional ability with SF, PF, C!

    • introspect says:

sorry I meant “now” instead of “not”. A few spelling mistakes in there. Regardless I see Bargnani as solid value in the 4th round. If you get him in the 5th consider it a steal. I would much rather have Bargnani’s versatility (and well rounded game) over the likes of Nene and Al Horford (great rebounder).

    • mbuser says:

i’m fairly certain i never said he was overrated or that i “wasn’t sold”. i said i was comfortable with him in the 5th – it’s doubtful that he’ll last that long, anyway. he is a player that people – like you, perhaps – will reach for, i just happen to not be one of them. he averaged 1.4 AST and 2.1 TO from Dec 31 forward last season, so not terribly efficient. nice combination of 3PT+BLK, but you’ve got to work with his low FG% and REB relative to FC peers, as well. i think he does just fine this season, but i’m not expecting great things until next season, after bosh leaves

      • introspect says:

Thanks Buser – I was referring to the 1st comment to this post where skyrocket mentioned that Bargnani was overrated. With the points you made I can see the other side of that argument. Being from Toronto my reply has a “bit” of a bias =)

        • skyrocket says:

Sorry introspect, didn’t mean to put your guy down :) Perhaps I should’ve used the word Overvalued instead of Overrated. I wouldn’t mind having Bargnani as well but maybe not where I’m picking at. I’ve drawn #1 in my money league so that means I have the 48th and 49th picks (and of 4th and beginning of 5th). With my own rankings, I have him between 60 and 70. Not too far though and I may just end up reaching for him if the draft sees the bigs going fast, just as I’m expecting. I just hope he’ll be more consistent this season – and justify his new big contract. You’re right, he does offer solid value. If only he’d rebound more….

          • introspect says:

Hey no worries skyrocket. Last year I had him on my team and as a starter I was pretty happy with his consistency. Like I wrote he hit the 20+ points 23 times after Dec 31st and was the 3rd highest scoring Center in the game behind D Howard and P Gasol (after Dec 31st when he became a starter). Although the Raps brought in Hedo Turk. I’m still pretty optimistic about Bargnani this season and there hasn’t been much to make me think otherwise. He’s about to take on more minutes (I predict 33, last year he averaged 31) and has been honing his skill through summer international play. I view him as a safe Center and as Buser pointed out he doesn’t get you many assists (guys like Duncan are rare in that category) or many steals (i.e Nene) he will help you out just fine in pts, reb (could reach close to 7 this year), FT% (great for a C), 3P% (terrific for a C), 3PTM, blocks (1.2 last season, I see it going to 1.5 this season). I think the projections I made earlier are pretty safe given the minutes and role he’ll have from the start of the season. But like I said I’m in Toronto thus have a bit of a bias =) and believe that mid 4th round is a safe pick for him – 5th round would be a sweet deal!

    • mr. gm says:

1.5 3pm too optimistic. He has to show he can hit at least half a three. Come on

      • introspect says:

show he can hit at least half a three? I must be missing something here…

        o6/07: 1.5/4.1 =37.3%
        07/08: 1.2/3.4 =34.5%
        08/09: 1.5/3.7 =40.9%
        career: 1.4/3.7 =37.7%

Sorry Buser but given those stats I’m pretty baffled as to why you don’t think he can average 1.5 3pm when he’s done it twice in his 3 year career…

        • So-Tex Spurs says:

First off, Buser comes in as mbusermr. gm is someone else. ;)

Secondly, I agree with you – why can’t Bargs hit 1.5 3′s this year when he’s done it twice before? :???:

  4. Cap. says:

Can’t wait to see Lebron and Shaq playing together, that’s got my vote. You gotta include the Raps though after they totally revamped their roster. The addition of Hedo, Jack, Amir, Evans, Belinelli, etc.. Calderon and Bargnani developing.. Bosh situation.. Much more intriguing than some of those other teams.

  5. Chriskim4 says:

I voted for Washington as well, however not because of Arenas and the new system. I’m more interested in the starting SG position. Will it be Mike Miller or Foye?

  6. ripkenpark says:

  7. nsink says:

I can’t believe Memphis is 3rd on this poll. There are probably more people here interested in Memphis then actually fans that attend games. I’d be happy ignoring every memphis game this year but i guess it’s the train wreck phenomena dont want to look but cant take your eyes away

    • So-Tex Spurs says:

I voted Memphis, although I think it’s almost a toss up between them and Golden State. Other than Gilbert Arenas, I don’t know what all the fuss is about in DC.

Looks like the soap opera has shifted from Milwaukee and Minnesota, though. ;)

    • Cap. says:

All this negativity and low expectations for the Grizzlies.. Am I the only one who thinks they have their best team in years? Gay, Mayo, ZBo, Conley, Iverson, Gasol, Thabeet.. This team isn’t that bad. Of course, throw all their fantasy values out the window, but in reality this could be a playoff team if the stars align.

      • mbuser says:

MEM win% over the past three seasons: .293, .268, .268
yeah they probably have their best team in years. they’ve accumulated some individual talent, but their are a heck of a lot of stars that need to align for this to actually work out. unless the egos on this team are substantially smaller than i’m assuming, at least a few players aren’t going to be thrilled about having to defer to a few others

        • Cap. says:

Haha, well I meant in recent memory, not just the last few years. I don’t think they’re a great team by any means, just better than a lot of you seem to give them credit for. Yes, there are egos galore, but if they win a few games in October, you really think Gay and ZBo will be arguing about who gets more shots? Gay, Mayo, and Conley all have serious talent, and they’re not just gonna disappear with Randolph and Iverson in town. Mayo won’t even be on the floor with AI most of the time, and I’m sure Conley won’t mind dishing it out. Mark my words, fantasy players WILL emerge on this team, and they will have netted some serious value as per their ADPs.

  8. Ashley says:

hi. who should i keep between andrus and wieters? both play in shallow positions. i’d prefer not to keep a catcher…

my other keepers are fielder, kinsler, braun, and reynolds (feel free to talk me out of keeping reynolds).

i’m up 7-3 in the finals. wish me luck, looking for my 1st title!

    • mbuser says:

i’m still convinced that wieters will be among the best hitters in baseball – regardless of position – for a while, so i’d be keeping him without hesitation. boy, mauer sure had a nice season, didn’t he? ;)

btw, feel free to use the forums for this kind of stuff moving forward

brandan wright missing up to 6 months gives randolph some breathing room.

    • So-Tex Spurs says:

Look who’s back in town! ‘Bout time, girlfriend! ;)

And yes, I agree that Wright being out pretty much solidifies Randolph’s value.

Should make Buser pretty happy! :D

Good to have you back, Ash!

      • Problem Gasolved says:

Rotoworld posted this, “Don Nelson called the injury a “kick in the teeth,” saying that Wright had outplayed Anthony Randolph during training camp.” Looks like Randolph and anyone planning on drafting him got a lot more confidence through this injury.
