SAN ANTONIO - Knicks team president Donnie Walsh flew all the way to San Antonio to watch Eddy Curry's return last night. And all Walsh saw was Curry's return to the pregame layup line. Curry's ballyhooed comeback from left knee surgery in January was absurdly scrapped when... (

The Knicks would like to use these remaining five weeks of the season to not only develop young players such as Danilo Gallinari, Wilson Chandler and Toney Douglas, and see how much is left in the tank of Tracy McGrady, but also to showcase as much of Eddy Curry as possible to make him more tradable this summer.
The only issue is getting Curry on the court.
The injury-plagued 7-footer was supposed to make his return to the lineup Wednesday night in San Antonio against the Spurs. But before tip-off, he pulled out with a sore right calf. At this point, he is now day-to-day with the calf issue, which happens to be in the same one he injured in training camp and cost him all of camp and the first three weeks of the regular season.

Losing Tony Parker hurt, just like when Manu Ginobili went down around this time last season. Parker picked up the slack then. Ginobili is doing the same so far. Ginobili scored 28 points and the San Antonio Spurs won for the fifth time in six games with a 97-87 victory over the New York Knicks, who guaranteed themselves a franchise-record ninth consecutive losing season.

A right sore calf, the same injury that ended Eddy Curry's preseason before it ever started, prevented him from playing in Wednesday night's 97-87 loss to the Spurs.

Although Donnie Walsh has not come to Mike D’Antoni and told him to revamp his coaching staff, D’Antoni made it clear today that his assistants are safe.
“We’re not throwing anybody under the bus,” D’Antoni said. “That’s not going to happen.”
To be fair, D’Antoni has thrown a couple of players under the bus this season and he basically threw himself under the bus last week by saying he hasn’t done a good job.
When the coach says he hasn’t done a good job and team’s record is 22-41 it’s not really going out on a limb to suggest that change may be in order. D’Antoni agrees that the roster needs to be upgraded but when asked if he’s given any thought to other changes he might have to make, D’Antoni quickly shot back, “What does that mean?”
Style of play?
“No.”
Coaching staff.
“No. No thought whatsoever. And there will be none.”
D’Antoni’s assistants are his brother Dan, Herb Williams, Phil Weber and Kenny Atkinson. The fact that the Knicks have struggled defensively has led to speculation that Walsh may want to hire a defensive coach, which doesn’t necessarily mean that any of the current assistants will be fired.
